Huawei has just launched Honor 9X Pro in India at a price of Rs 14,999 - Rs 17,999. Regular Honor 9X is still available in India and has a price tag of Rs 13,999 for the base model. Huawei has just launched Y9S in India at a price of Rs 19,990. It will go on sale on May 19th on Amazon India. If you look at the specs of the Huawei Y9S closely, you would be surprised to see it has very similar specs as another smartphone from the Chinese giants - Honor 9X ( India version ). Huawei Y9s ( STK-L21 ), a mid-range Android smartphone from Chinese giants is launching in India soon online on Amazon. It is powered by Kirin 710F processor and comes with GApps including Google Play Store and Play Services. This has similar specs as the earlier launched Honor 9X. The expected price in India is around Rs 18,999 . Kirin 710F Chipset is an older generation processor made by Huawei and is slower than the newer Kirin 810 and 820 chipsets. It's powerful enough for your day to day tasks though. However, features like 4K video recording are a miss on the Huawei Y9s due to it having this chipset on board. Honor 9X has the same exact processor. Since this feature a pop-up selfie camera, there is no need for a notch. So you get a full-screen experience. Huawei is rolling out a new OTA for Honor 10 variants worldwide with the latest security patches from Google ( April 2020 ). Strangely Honor 10 ( COL-L29 ) is still on older Android 9 Pie, and the EMUI 10 update is long overdue for this old flagship device.  Honor Play is also receiving April 2020 updates on Android Pie. Huawei has officially confirmed Honor Play won't get Android 10 update. Honor 10, on the other hand, will for sure receive an update in the future. When? Nobody knows.  Honor 10 is powered by Kirin 970 Octacore processor and comes with Dual Cameras at the back. It has a 5.84 inch Full HD display with a small notch at the top. It doesn't have a huge battery or IP67 but is a great compact smartphone with good looks. Since it already ships with Google Apps, you don't have to worry about having to flash gapps manually when Android 10 arrives. 

Huawei can't ship phones with Google Gapps ( Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps, etc ) and Google Play Services on their smartphones. This is due to the 'Huawei Ban' by Trump Govt which prevents them from getting into a licensing agreement with Google to use their apps and services. Huawei P40 Pro, Honor 9X Pro, Honor 30 Series, etc ship without these google apps.  Huawei is not banned from using Google's Android since it is open-source. However, they have to wait until the AOSP Android version is publicly available after the release by Google. For rest of the OEMs, who have a licensing deal with Google, can get access to upcoming Android versions a few weeks or months early. Honor 9X has that big 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor which by default shoots Pixel binned 12MP files. The dynamic range is quite good in both 48MP and 12MP modes, but the image quality, in my opinion, is just ok.  So, I thought about shooting DNG RAW files of that 48MP sensor to get the best quality out of 9X. However, that's currently impossible to achieve.  Honor 9X and it's predecessors like 8X, 7X, 6X etc ships with EMUI Lite version. Huawei normally doesn't mention that on the box or you wouldn't notice that while using the phone mainly because there is hardly any noticeable difference between the full EMUI and the lite EMUI.  However, the Lite version does not allow RAW capture in the default camera app. Pro mode is available, but there is no option to toggle raw. Even though Huawei is banned from using Google Services, they are committed to updating their existing Android smartphones to latest OS version. They have been pushing out Android 10 based EMUI 10 to many eligible devices globally. The latest one to get the EMUI 10 is the popular Honor 10.  How to get EMUI 10 update on your Honor 10?  Like every other Android OEM, updates are rolled out gradually to various units. Lucky ones get the update early. The best way to request Huawei to update your phone to the latest version is to go to the HiCare app and hit on the Update button. If your phone says No update available, be patient. I have an Honor 10 here with me and it is yet to get the EMUI 10 update. So you are not alone. Huawei has finally decided to launch Honor 9X in India. It will be available soon online from Flipkart. MRP price expected is under 15K. Check out the Teaser page here. Huawei has officially launched Honor V30 Series and Honor Magic Watch 2 in China with some impressive high end specs. Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro are the first 5G smartphones from Honor Mobiles. Huawei's subrand is gearing up to launch two 5G flagship Android smartphones - Honor View 30 and Honor 30. These phones will probably come without Google Apps because of the Huawei ban by Trump administration.  These are the first 5G phones from Honor. Since Honor calls it View 30 series, we can expect a non-5G variant as well, priced lesser and can come to markets like India. Older Honor View 20 is now out of stock. Is it possible to root or bootloader unlock latest Android smartphones from Huawei or Honor ? If you have been using a Huawei or Honor device and have been wanting to have root access for whatever reason, chances are you would have often reached a dead end while searching for tutorials and tools. So is it possible ? In order to achieve root, these days you need to flash a custom or modified boot.img aka kernel. Usually a patched magisk boot.img does the trick. This is done by flashing it using Fastboot command with phone connected to your laptop. However, there is one huge problem. In order to flash something via Fastboot command, you need to unlock the bootloader of your phone first. Usually it's done by using ' fastboot oem unlock ' command in bootloader mode. Huawei has just launched Mate 30 Series of smartphones - Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30 and Porsche RS Edition . The Pro model is the top end variant in the series while the regular Mate 30 still come with some flagship specs. Both have 5G and Non 5G variants as well. This is the first major phone launch from Huawei since the Huawei Ban by Trump administration.  Due to the ban, Google and Huawei can't work together or sign licencing agreements. This means, the latest flagship from Huawei - Mate 30 Pro will ship without Google services. So, in short, you won't have access to vast amount of apps found of Google Play Store as it won't come pre-installed on the phone. One other issue Huawei is going to face with the Mate 30 Pro would be how they would push future software updates.
