Essential Phone Company is Shutting Down

When Andy Rubin founded the company Essential, a lot of tech enthusiasts and Android fanboys were really excited and expected big things from them. After all, this is a company made by the guy who created Android. However, they only released just one phone - the Essential PH-1 and in a blog post today announced they are shutting down the company for the good - " We have made the difficult decision to cease operations and shutdown Essential ". To be honest, we all saw this coming. Many in the tech industry already thought the Essential Phone company is Dead when no new smartphones from them surfaced. The 2nd phone from them was canceled as well. Then, in October 2019, out of the blue, Andy Rubin tweeted about a new Essential phone - Project Gem. Essential is a company started by Ex-Googler and the creator of Android - Andy Rubin. Essential's first Android phone was well received and was one of the first Android smartphone to come up with a water drop style Notch to house the front camera. It also got new Android Software OTAs without much delays - sometimes on the same day as Google Pixel phones. A while back, it was rumoured Andy Robin is shutting down Essential and we won't see any new phones from the company. Fortunately that's not the case.
