Sony IMX686 sensor Coming Soon

48MP sensors have become very common these days on Android smartphones. Xiaomi even launched a 108MP phone couple of days ago, which was made by Samsung. Realme launched a phone with a 64MP sensor, again made by Samsung, for a price of just Rs 14,999 a few months back as well.

Until those Samsung sensors came, the most popular 48MP sensor, seen of many smartphones was actually made by Sony. It was codenamed Sony IMX586.

For 2020, Sony has made another big megapixel sensor for the masses. On Weibo, Sony's official channel put out a video teasing Sony IMX686 image sensor.

How many Megapixel will it have ? Currently Sony hasn't announced any technical info about this sensor. So we will have to wait.

There are some new phones from Oppo, Vivo and others rumoured to be launching with 60MP sensors soon. So chances are those phones would use this new Sony IMX686 cmos sensor. For sure, the default shooting mode on those phones coming up with this sensor would be 4-in-1 Super Pixel 15MP.  We can expect the not yet announced, but for sure coming soon OnePlus 8 will also feature IMX686.

Check out the Video links on Weibo here.
