Sony A6000 vs Sony A5100 | Which one to Buy ? Specs & Price Comparison

Sony A6000 and A5100 have been available in the market for a while. They are launched in 2014. However, they are still good cameras to buy if you are just starting out in photography or want to buy your first mirrorless camera.

Both A6000 and A5100 feature the same exact sensor, same processor and same auto focus system. So image quality-wise, you are getting the same output from both of these cameras. They come with the same kit lens as well - 16-50mm 3.5. Both come with the same exact battery as well.

Current Lowest Prices
Advantages Sony A6000 has over Sony A5100
  • EVF - an Electronic View Finder which would come in handy when you are out there in the Sun as the it would get a bit harder to look at the LCD display in the direct sun
  • More buttons and Dials
  • Better Menu system
Advantages Sony A5100 has over Sony A6000
  • 180 degree tiltable LCD screen - you can take some great selfies. Smile Please.
  • Compact and Lightweight
So which one to buy ? If budget is not an issue, i would recommend you skip both of these and get the Sony A6100 instead. It has much better specs, 4K recording support and a 180 degree tiltable screen. If you are choosing between A6000 and A5100, then get the A6000 for the EVF. Believe me, you would find it hard to compose images on the LCD screen under direct sunlight.
