Apple iPhone 11 vs iPhone XR | Specs Comparison | Buying Advice

Apple has just launched iPhone 11 Series. This time around there are 3 variants. The cheapest model is called iPhone 11 which is actually the successor to last year's iPhone XR. There are a lot in common between these two devices, and there are some welcome changes as well. Is iPhone 11 a better buy than iPhone XR ? let's check out the specs and see.

Cameras - Which one has a better camera ? iPhone XR or iPhone 11 ?

iPhone 11 comes with Dual Cameras on the back while older iPhone XR only has a single camera. There is a regular 12MP wide angle lens as well as an ultra wide angle lens on the iPhone 11. That extra lens would let you shoot some great wide angle perspectives. Both iPhone XR and iPhone 11 can record 4K @ 60fps with ease. So if you are interested in that ultra wide angle camera, and can't afford any iPhone Pro models launched along with this, iPhone 11 is a great buy over iPhone XR.

Performance

iPhone XR comes with Apple's Bionic A12 chipset. Apple has equipped iPhone 11 with the next gen Bionic A13 chipset. Performance-wise, as you can expect, A13 chipset is much better than any other out there. However, A12 Bionic is no slouch, and you wouldn't notice any difference in performance during your day to day tasks. So if you are buying iPhone 11 for just performance, i would recommend you get the iPhone XR instead for a cheaper price. It's still a fast device.

Display

I would have loved seeing an OLED / AMOLED display on the iPhone 11. Unfortunately, only PRO models have Full HD OLED screen. Both iPhone XR and iPhone 11 have an IPS LCD HD display. So display wise, there is not much difference here.

Conclusion

As you can see, iPhone 11 is an incremental update to iPhone XR. In my opinion, only reason to upgrade your iPhone XR to iPhone 11 would be for the camera. If you don't own an XR and is finding it difficult to choose between these two, i would recommend you spend some extra money and get the Dual Camera iPhone 11 as it's more fun to have an ultra wide lens along with the regular one.

Current lowest price for iPhone XR online in India is Rs 59,990. iPhone 11 will be launching in India at a price of Rs 64,990. So unless the price of iPhone XR drops dramatically, i wouldn't recommend you get the XR over the 11.

[ FIX ] Ubuntu 20.04 Bluetooth doesn't Turn On

I have been using a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for a while now with my Ubuntu 20.04. Everything worked well without any issues until one day the operating system refused to turn on the Bluetooth. I could toggle Bluetooth On button from the Settings, but it did nothing.  After spending some time Google Searching why my Bluetooth started not working all of a sudden, and after trying a variety of commands to troubleshoot the problem, I finally found a working fix for this issue. Open a Terminal ( Ctrl + Alt + T )  and enter below commands one after another.  sudo rmmod btusb sudo modprobe btusb That's it. Your Bluetooth issue would be now solved.  I can guarantee you this problem is going to pop-up every now and then. So copy the above commands to a text file for future uses. Sometimes, even after entering above commands the bluetooth would refuse to turn on. In such cases, just Suspend the system and then wake up it again and check.

Reduce External Monitor Brightness on Ubuntu 20.04, 21.10

External Monitors are a great addition to any workspace. I have a Full HD Benq one connected with my laptop via HDMI cable to do multi-tasking. What I don't like about this setup is the external screen is still very bright even after setting it to the lowest possible setting via physical buttons present on the monitor. Changing brightness on the Laptop doesn't affect the brightness of the external monitor. However, In Ubuntu, you can adjust the brightness level of any connected monitor by opening up a terminal/command line and entering a few comments. Xrandr is the command we would be using to achieve this. How to change External Monitor Brightness on Ubuntu Linux Open a Terminal ( Ctrl + Alt + T ) Enter the command xrandr -q | grep " connected" and press Enter. Find the external monitor name displayed in this command's output. In my case, it is  HDMI-1 To change the brightness enter this command xrandr --output HDMI-1 --brightness 0.5 and press Ente...
