RICOH THETA A1 – Features
Durable Design for Demanding Job Sites
The RICOH THETA A1 is designed for professional documentation in challenging environments. Its IP64 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water splashes, while compatibility with an optional lens protector adds another layer of protection for supported workflows.
The camera is intended for construction documentation, inspections, restoration projects, and property recording. Its durable metal tripod mount is designed for repeated attachment and removal during everyday fieldwork.
Fast Startup for Efficient Documentation
The THETA A1 can start up and become ready to capture images in approximately three seconds during initial startup. This helps professionals document site conditions quickly when moving between locations or recording changes during an inspection.
Fast operation can be particularly useful for teams that need to capture multiple rooms, construction stages, or property conditions throughout the working day.
High-Resolution 60MP 360-Degree Photos
The camera captures 360-degree still images at resolutions of up to 11K, measuring 11008 × 5504 pixels and delivering approximately 60 megapixels. A lower-resolution 5.5K mode is also available at 5504 × 2752 pixels, producing approximately 15-megapixel images.
These high-resolution images can help preserve visual details for inspection records, progress tracking, property documentation, and remote site reviews.
Still images are recorded in JPEG format with Exif 2.3.1 compliance. Supported shooting functions include normal shooting, noise reduction, HDR rendering, handheld HDR, Time Shift, interval shooting, and a self-timer.
8K 360-Degree Video Recording
The RICOH THETA A1 supports immersive 360-degree video recording at resolutions up to 8K. It also offers 5.7K, 4K, and 2K recording options, allowing users to select a suitable resolution and bitrate for their documentation requirements.
Supported video formats include MP4 with H.264 or H.265 encoding and AAC-LC mono audio.
Available recording options include:
– 8K: 7680 × 3840 at 2, 5, or 10 fps

– 4K: 3840 × 1920 at 2, 5, 10, or 30 fps
– 2K: 1920 × 960 at 30 fps
The camera supports multiple bitrate options to help balance image quality and file size. This can be useful when transferring documentation to cloud services or sharing footage through project management platforms.
Note that 8K recording at 10 fps does not support the top/bottom correction function. Actual recording time also depends on the selected settings and operating conditions.
Removable Battery and Extended Field Operation
