Internal Power Zoom and Constant F4 Aperture

This is Canon’s first full-frame RF lens with an internal zooming design. It also gets built-in Power Zoom functionality. The RF20–50mm F4 L IS USM PZ holds a fixed f/4, 9-blade aperture through its entire 20–50mm zoom range.

You can choose between manual and power zoom with a new dual operation switch. Two Nano USM actuators handle the power zoom, driving separate lens groups.

Optical Design and Coatings

The lens structure includes 13 elements in 11 groups. Three Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) glass elements and two Aspheric elements are part of that. On the coating side, you get Super Spectra Coating (SSC), Air Sphere Coating (ASC) on an inner surface, and a Fluorine Coating on the front element.

Up to 8.0 Stops Image Stabilization

Optical image stabilization alone offers 6.0 stops of correction. Combine that with in-body image stabilization (IBIS) on compatible R-series cameras, and you're looking at up to 8.0 stops of coordinated IS. This works for both stills and video, even with Movie Digital IS activated.

Compact and Weather-Sealed Build

The lens uses an internal zoom, so its length doesn't change when you zoom. It's also designed with dust and weather-resistant construction. It measures roughly 3.15 inches in diameter and 3.9 inches long, weighing in at about 14.8 oz (420g).
