Google has officially launched Pixel 4A in India at an MRP price of Rs 31,999 and a launch offer price of Rs 29,999. OnePlus Nord, which has been out for a month now can be bought for Rs 24,999 - Rs 29,999. So which one you should buy? Which one is a better value for the money? What are the Pros and Cons of each? Read on.
Pixel 4A is for those who love stock Android and want day 1 software updates. Google will send future Android 12 and Android 13 to Pixel 4A without any delay whenever these versions launch. It also gets monthly security updates for the next 3 years. So you are getting one of the most secure Android smartphones you can buy in the market today. It doesn't come with any bloatware as well, meaning you don't have to worry about 3rd party pre-installed apps stealing your data which many Chinese OEMs in the past were caught doing. One other main reason to buy the Pixel phone is its camera. The HDR+ algorithm and the incredible Night Sight mode lets you take fantastic pictures in all lighting conditions.
Pixel 4A Pros
- Great Camera
- AMOLED screen
- Stock Android Experience
- Compact, Smaller Size - Easy to carry around in the pocket
- Monthly security updates
- Day 1 Android Version updates at least for 2 years.
Pixel 4A Cons
- Doesn't have a flagship Qualcomm Chipset
- Do not have a big battery or super-fast charging ( still Google is able to squeeze around 5 hours of screen on time which is quite good )
- No high refresh rate like 90Hz or 120Hz
OnePlus Nord on the other hand supports 5G networks and is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. Unlike Pixel 4A, there are multiple cameras at the back including an ultra-wide-angle lens. It has the same rear camera as the OnePlus 8 smartphone and takes good pictures even though it doesn't have Google's HDR+ software magic. In short, thanks to the extra camera on the back, OnePlus Nord is a more versatile performer when it comes to photography. You also get a bigger battery, 90Hz refresh rate, Warp Charge fast charging, etc. OnePlus Nord will get Oxygen OS 11 as well as 12 in the future and they will get security updates frequently as well.
OnePlus Nord Pros
- Better Processor
- 5G support
- 90Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen
- Bigger battery
- Warp Charge support
So which one is better value for the money? If you are all into specs, OnePlus Nord offers better value for the money for sure and also supports the 5G network. If you want the best specs for Rs 29,999, this is the phone you should be buying. If you are into Stock Android and so badly want Google Camera features, then Pixel 4A, even though priced a bit higher would serve you well. I myself would be buying a Pixel 4A as soon as it goes on sale on Flipkart on Oct 16th.
