I have been using my Benq 27 inch as an external monitor via HDMI on my Laptop running Windows 10. It was worked for the first time, then after rebooting Windows 10 stopped detecting the external display connected via HDMI. The device manager in the control panel of the Windows 10 didn't even detect the external monitor.
I booted my Linux desktop on the same laptop and the monitor was working fine without any issues. So. i was sure it's not a cable issue or a hardware problem. I tried to troubleshoot with the help of Google. I tried updating Intel Graphics drivers. Didn't fix. I rolled back drivers. Didn't fix. I rebooted many times after doing this and that and it didn't work either.
After trying various things, I fixed this issue myself ( accidentally, to be honest ). Follow the steps below.

- Remove HDMI Cable from your Laptop
- Boot up Windows 10
- Once logged in, Enter Windows Key + P combination to launch Project menu or click on the Project icon from Action Center ( Windows Key + A )
- Select 'Extend' from the menu that appears
- Now, plug in the HDMI cable connected to your External monitor.
The above steps worked for me. If it worked for you as well, feel free to leave a comment below.
