Xiaomi has officially launched Redmi Note 9 Pro in India. It will go on sale on Amazon.in from 17th March 2019. Redmi Note 9 Pro is priced at Rs 12,999 ( 4GB ram, 64GB storage ). It is also available with 6GB of ram and 128GB of storage, priced at Rs 15,999.
Older Redmi Note 8 Pro is currently priced at Rs 13,999 and has 6GB of ram and 64GB of storage. There is a chance this will get another price drop since the newer Note 9 Series is here.
While the older version is powered by a Mediatek chipset, the newer Redmi Note 9 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Octacore processor on board. This is a 4G chipset and doesn't support 5G networks.
It sports a 6.67 inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen ( DotDisplay ) and has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It comes with a big 5020mAh battery and supports 18W Fast Charging.
Like every other mid-range Android smartphone recently launched in India, Xiaomi has also opted for a Quad Camera setup. While many others have now opted for 64MP sensors, Xioami is sticking with the 48MP shooter. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens as well as a 5MP macro lens. A 2MP sensor next to these can record depth information to be used in portrait and bokeh shots. On the front, there is a 16MP in-display camera that supports 120fps slo-mo selfie videos.
Xiaomi has equipped this phone with a Video Pro Mode as well. It supports many useful features like histogram, ISO, manual focus, white balance, Focus peaking, Zebras, etc. Log Format recording is supported as well.
It was surprising to see Xiaomi chose a 48MP sensor while it's main competitor these days - Realme Mobiles - have switched to 64MP sensors on their phones. More Megapixels do not mean better photos, but people would be tempted to pay a few bucks extra and get the 64MP phone.
Redmi Note 9 Pro ships with Android 10 out of the box. As always, Xiaomi MIUI is on top offering a colorful experience which some love and some hate. It is available in 3 different colors - Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White.
